Founded in 2024 by a team of conservationists, designers, and entrepreneurs, our mission is to empower local artisans and small businesses by providing a robust e-commerce platform that showcases unique, high-quality handcrafted products.

Our Story

Mwezi originated from a passion for sustainability and community. Recognizing the rich heritage of Ugandan craftsmanship—from beadwork to ceramics—we built this marketplace to foster economic growth in rural and urban communities. Every artisan on Mwezi undergoes a vetting process to ensure fair labor practices and adherence to environmental regulations.

Our Values

• Sustainability: We prioritize eco-friendly materials and packaging in accordance with national environmental laws and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
• Fair Trade: All artisans receive at least 80% of the final sale price in compliance with the Fair Trade Federation’s guidelines.
• Quality Assurance: Products are inspected against Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) quality criteria before listing.
• Community Impact: We reinvest 5% of our annual profits into community development programs, aligning with Uganda’s National Development Plan.
